In Which I Haven't Updated in Way Too Long...

So yeah... sorry 'bout that. No, I'm not dead or anything. Just lazy.

So yeah, summer. Whoosh. Let me tell you, I have honestly been gone every other week. Which is totally weird frankly- I've never been gone this much in the summer time. Actually, by the time school starts, I'll have been gone a grand total of five weeks. There's eight weeks of summer. Do the math.

First vacation- Girl's Camp. Which was okay... I guess... The theme was very cool- superheroes- so there's some good stuff there. Every ward was supposed to pick a superhero as sorta our mascot, and ours was Optimus Prime. Once again, very cool. Some of the other wards picked liked, Wonder Woman, Super Girl, stuff like that, all of which are legit and cool too. One of them picked Rosie the Riveter randomly. I was kind of like "what?" but I ended up accepting it once I saw some of the laughable stuff the other wards had picked. Some of them I guess decided it was okay to start making up their own so we ended up with things like "Virtue Girls" and "Shikara" (which I guess for all I know could actually be a real one, but she's drawn in Japanese anime style so I'm automatically entitled to make fun of it anyway). Also, one of them picked the "Fair Maidens". *sigh* I don't know how you get princesses out of superheroes (Xena: Warrior Princess maybe? But if that was point... well they obviously missed it.) but I guess it was bound to happen.

Haha funny story. Our camp, with our Optimus Prime, was stationed right next to the "Fair Maidens" camp. And trust me, the two campsites... well, you could say they looked very different. To give you an idea, this was our logo:
...and theirs went something like this:
So yeah... I think they missed the point.

Second vacation- EFY. I'd never been before so this was all a new experience for me. Two of my best friends on the face of the planet were going to be there, (one of whom was to be my roommate) so that had pretty much guaranteed before hand that even if it sucked, it couldn't be all that bad. It didn't suck, but I think it deserves it's own post, so I'll save the details.

Third vacation- Ramah, New Mexico. I've been there at least a million times, but it always manages to be fun. More details later? That would probably be easiest.

But anyway, the here and now! Fourth vacation- Washington. Well, I'm currently in Utah, but that's besides the point. I'm staying with my uncle and aunt currently (Dallan and Stephanie, for those who are curious) and so far it's been pretty fun. I've pretty much been (literally) bombarded by my cousins with love and hugs (my sleeve is being violently tugged on as I speak... er write) but they love me so it's cool.

Haha, another funny story. So the last time I saw my cousins, they stayed at my house for a week. I had them watch Cats. Soooooo, I walk in the door two days ago and the first thing the older one says to me, at 100 works a minute, is "Oh Shauntel! I love that Cats movie you showed me; I think I'm going to buy it." Not a "hi" or a "sup" or even a "what are you doing here you freak", just a, well, that. Stephanie explained to me that ever since they watched it, they've listened to it non stop and kept the DVD for months when they rented it. She's happy with it though. As am I. I'm actually rather proud of myself for converting them.

Anyway I suppose I sorta lied since I'm not actually in Washington yet, but I'll get there eventually. It's funny though. I mean, I'm in Utah. And as most people know, I like to make fun of Utah. It's fun. However, I'm quickly running out of fodder, since so far all the stuff I've seen has been awesome. Plus, you can look at the sky (which, turns out, is blue, and not grayish) and not hurt your eyes.

Also, everything is green. It's kinda weirding me out.

But whatev. That's the Arizonian in me speaking. And we all know Arizona is still the best state ever.

The Return of the Revenge of Girl's Camp...

...really wasn't that bad...

Seriously, I really don't have much to complain about. Perhaps it was just the reoccurring nightmares from last year that put my optimism down (I'd like to see you live a normal life after a nightmare about snipes locking you in the bathroom with Doris Day *shudders*).

As absolutely enthralling as slipping on the stage carpet was (long story), being a YCL (Youth Camp Leader) was actually really fun. Although I ended playing mom the entire week, it could have definitely been worse.

Were there bad/annoying things that happened? Of course- it's a given. But will I be writing them down here? No. Why? The "good" answer to that is because we shouldn't dwell on the bad that happens in life. The real answer is that you never know who might read this in the future and then hate me for the rest of their life... those overly-sensitive moochers...

Mustn't hate, mustn't hate... so openly...

Anyway, there really isn't much more the say on the subject. So yeah, 'twas a mostly useless post. Just wanted you to know that I wasn't completely lazy for not posting in two weeks.

Also, on the most random note possible, everyone should go see the movie "Up". I just went and saw it today, and it was pretty much amazing.

Holy Freaking Cow! An Update!!

Yes, it's me again. After over a month I've finally returned and actually updated. It's a miracle, I know.

But anyway, quite a few things have happened since I've not updated. So, I've decided to tell them to you with semi-humorous commentary.

The Pioneer Trek - A difficult but worthwhile experience that I never wish to experience again. Now, there were somethings that were great! But dang, it was hard. I'll not go into much detail though. I'm planning on writing a post about this one.

Girl's Camp - *shudders* Please don't make me elaborate. I'll tell you this though: I'm certain you are all aware of a certain Bible story about a certain unfortunate man named Daniel who was thrown into a certain den of lions for certain reasons, right? Well let's just say I can relate.

Not going to by grandparents...yet - As many of you know, I was supposed to go to Ramah and visit my grandparents about a week ago. Well, as you might've guessed by the title, I haven't left yet. Which is somewhat unfortunate, I do want to see my relatives and the heat is going to kill me soon. But you have to understand our predicament which will be answered in the next section.

We have a new car... sort of - We've had our old car, the green one, for almost ten years now (and we got it used). It is dying. The AC doesn't really work, it overheats about once a week, and it's just old. (Sounds kind of like my computer.) Anyway, my mother, for good reason, refused to drive six hours in something as miserable and unreliable as that. So, we've been trying to get a new car. Event after event has tried to stop us. It's been pretty crazy. Anyway, at this point, we have the car sitting in front of our house and we can't drive it. Our latest setback, no lisence plate. And the car had all it's bin numbers scratched off, it had been stolen, recovered by the owners, and sold at an auction, which makes it difficult to get one.

I'm all by myself, kind of, until Thursday - Ok, not completely by myself. Dad's here and Max is also. But Dad is at work most of the time and Max is, well, a dog. This story is basically a continuation of the previous two. See, my aunt, Marlie, decided at the last moment that she was going to leave on Sunday morning and offered to take some of us. Origionally, it was just going to be Sheridan and Brenna. But then, shortly before they were supposed to leave, Mariah and Mom decided to leave also. I might've gone, but there was no more room in the car. We'll be going up on Thursday though. I don't know how long we'll be there.

New Computer - Ok that's kind of a lie. I actually got two new computers. So now I have three somewhat functional computers in my bedroom all serving different purposes. My old laptop, the pretty looking one, is dying and turns off at random but has all my stuff on it. My new/old laptop plays Starcraft and is very portable. My new computer, it's a desktop machine, is for my online math class and it can play DVDs.

That's really all for now, I'll update more as I remember too. Cya later!
